A note from the editor

Words almost fail me – well, almost. After years of urging readers to become writers, the message has finally got home. What has made the difference? It is mainly to do with the decision to have a single theme running through each issue; this has inspired writers to get involved with our theme for this issue: green.

The transformation began in the last issue when the theme of

‘connections’ rang a bell with many readers so we had articles submitted including long marriages, dog ownership and improving the links between local schools and the arts. But the green theme saw the enthusiasm for writing really take off. We have articles in these pages about the Wychwood Forest, swifts, hedgehogs, how to become greener citizens and we even get to meet Ronnie the Rook.

Such articles don’t, of course, fill our pages; there is much more to our magazine than this. You can find out about how to travel by train to Chipping Norton, you can discover the geographical limits of Milton’s parish and you can find out about an exciting new arts project in the community.

So what’s next? Our June/July issue will focus on a theme of out and about. News of this theme must have escaped as we already have articles received about Kelmscott, Broadway and Minster Lovell. How about a local walk or cycle route? If you are thinking of sending an article, please contact us beforehand so that we make space for it.

Readers and writers: this is your magazine.
