A note from the editor
One beautiful sunny evening earlier in the summer, I spent a lively and thoroughly enjoyable time with the Wychwood scouts on the Green at Milton. The purpose was to look at the Wychwood Magazine with them and hear their views, as well as showing how it was the result of much volunteer labour.
“Which interest groups are shown in the June/July issue?” I asked.
The scouts from both genders identified groups including the elderly, gardeners, music lovers and the like but when I asked which groups were not represented, they were not slow to comment that there was little for young people.
Well, this issue helps to put that right. As well as an article about the scouting activities which clearly engaged this group, there are features about our local schools, including an extended article celebrating the primary school’s 50th anniversary, and one written by ten year old, Harriett Grigg, as she looked back at the church fete in Shipton.
This issue includes much, much more. Jeff Broxholme looks back at the beneficial effect of writing his own memoirs and Pete Rawlins tells us the engaging tales of his long involvement with the Green at Milton. For those who enjoy good photos, look at Alan Vickers centre page selection of pictures of our summer celebrations. Oh, and if you want to find out what Ed Sheeran was doing down at Mike Hartley’s farm, well….read on.
