A Christmas mission

At a time when there is so much in the news about suffering and people being unkind, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support people in this area have provided for my Christmas appeal. In October, I started a social media campaign to collect donations of toys, clothes, gifts and household items to support local families and charities at Christmas. The donations I receive will go to Ronald McDonald House, John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital, Women’s Refuge and to local families.

Why am I doing this? Because, last year at this time, I was getting food from foodbanks and had to rely on donations from my local church in order to give a gift to my son at Christmas.  I’ve been lucky this year and am in a better place.  I simply wanted to give back and help people who are in the same position I’ve been in.

The response has been amazing.  Not only with the many generous donations I’ve received, but also with the number of families seeking help.  Over 300 families have reached out to me with needs they have at this time of year.

Thank you so much to all the people who have kindly made donations to my appeal.  Your generosity will go a long way to making sure families have something nice at Christmas.  If we can make just one family smile, it’s a job well done!
