Like everyone else, scouting in the Wychwoods has twisted and turned to cope with lockdowns, social distancing, staying outdoors and keeping everyone safe. And through it all, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have kept going, adapting and moving forward.
We have been massively helped by so many groups in the community, the Parish Councils, the Wild Garden, the open spaces, our local MP Robert Courts, who dropped in on Zoom for a lively debate on young people’s issues and so many other parties to prove that, in times of need, communities come together. We plan for the future knowing that nothing at the moment is certain. But that is fine. Our young people are resilient and see the best of life ahead of them. As I write this, Cubs have just returned from their muddiest hike to date in our wonderful Cotswold countryside (they loved it!) and Scouts are planning trips further afield – watch this space!
