Chipping Norton Theatre revival

The hospitality and leisure industries have been horribly hamstrung by the pandemic.  Venues have been closed and staff either put on furlough or made redundant.  Perhaps, at last, there is light at the end of the tunnel for one of our best-known local facilities, Chipping Norton Theatre.  They must be congratulated for scheduling an imaginative programme of summer shows, many of them outdoors in a range of outstanding settings.  There are films as well as live productions to suit a wide variety of tastes.  Here is a flavour of what is to come:

  • 1st June at Heath Farm, Swerford: Back to the future
  • 3rd June at CN rugby club: Rocketman
  • 4th June at CN rugby club: The Greatest Showman
  • 5th June at CN rugby club: Dirty Dancing
  • 6th June: Mama Mia! Also showing at the rugby club

As well as this list of popular films, there are outdoor live shows as follows:

  • 26th, 27th June: The Pirates of Penzance, at Heath Farm, Swerford
  • 9th July: Pride and Prejudice, at Broughton Castle
  • 17th-21st July: Macbeth on bikes, at Pudlicote House
  • 1st August: The Jungle Book, at Cornbury Park
  • 11th August: David Walliams’ Mr Stink, at Cornbury Park

In case you need a reminder of what an amazing facility we have up at the Theatre, indoor performances are slowly being made available within the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.  There are too many to list all of them, but here are a few tasters:

  • 5th June: Morgan and West’s Fantastic Family Magic Spectacular
  • 9th-12th June: Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense
  • 1st July: Budapest Café Orchestra
  • 13th/14th July: The Scummy Mummies Show
  • 16th July: The Rod Stewart Songbook

These lists just give a flavour of the creative energy and ambition on show at the Theatre.  After such a difficult period, they would be greatly encouraged by our attendance; we are spoiled for choice!  Full details of all the events can be found at and the box office can look after your bookings on 01608 642350.
