Shipton Council news

By the time you read this, we’ll be well in to the New Year. 2020 was clearly a very challenging year for everyone but what was noticeable was how so many people rallied round to help and support their friends and neighbours during the lockdowns. When the Parish Council started a support service, we were inundated with volunteers to assist. This community spirit was in evidence again on the morning of Christmas Eve when we faced a revisit of 2007 – namely, some heavy flooding in the village with several properties affected and an evacuation of The Old Prebendal House. Thank you again to all those people who turned up bringing blankets etc. and offering accommodation or help and assistance at the New Beaconsfield Hall.

The new year holds out the promise of a return to normality. From the Parish Council perspective, we will continue to support the services and facilities that are important to so many of our residents and will also continue the green initiatives started last year around the village. We also hope to restart the Shipton Volunteers on a regular basis when it is safe to do so. Hopefully the benefits of that will soon become apparent. After the great relaunch of the village fete in 2019 we will again be supporting it this year. So that’s definitely something to look forward to this coming August.

From Shipton PC to everyone in the Wychwoods we wish you all a happy, peaceful and healthy 2021.
