Meeting in a Bag
The committee members of Shipton WI prepared and delivered a surprise goody bag to every member of the Institute as they were unable to hold their usual Christmas meeting. Each bag contained a bottle of damson gin, a jar of chutney, a wrapped gift, a rubber husband (if you need an explanation ask a WI member!) and a Christmas cake. You can imagine the surprise and delight that resulted. This sums up the spirit of the WI: friendship and care for others and making sure that no-one is forgotten. Our thanks go to all the team.
Christmas Cake Stall
There was no Christmas Fair in the New Beaconsfield Hall so the next best thing was a cake stall organised by Shipton and Milton WIs on Milton Village Green. Our thanks go to everyone who provided a spread of home-baked cakes and many other goodies which quickly sold out.
It was such a joy to meet and greet friends and have a chat in the open air without taking risks or breaking any rules. When the takings were counted, we had made the amazing sum of £460! £230 was given to John Witts to help the local food bank with its vital work and £230 to the roof restoration fund at St. Mary’s church. Thank you to Wychwood folk for your support.
