The real Christmas

This Christmas will be unlike any other but the real message of Christmas will be as clear as ever in the Wychwood Benefice churches: Shipton, Milton and Fifield with Idbury.   As our vicar, Geoffrey writes:

This Christmas is going to be different from others; I hope that however your Christmas is spent you will encounter all the Joy and Peace of the season.

I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a Christ filled Christmas and every blessing for 2021.

 Yours faithfully,

 Vicar Geoffrey

As this goes to press churches are currently still open for private prayer and the following is an outline of what we are hoping to do which includes church services and online services. Please check (and keep checking) the website for the latest details.

You are welcome to join us for any of these services. However, to help us plan social distancing with the seating can we ask that you let us know if you are planning to attend.  Email the office office@wychwoodbenefice.org.uk or contact either Geoffrey or Anne.

The below plan assumes we will no longer be in lockdown in December. Please keep checking the website for the latest details on services www.wychwoodbenefice.org.uk

Christmas Services:
Whilst we are in lockdown and unable to hold services in church there will be a pre-recorded service posted online to Facebook and YouTube each Sunday.

29 November:   Advent Sunday Pre-recorded Advent Carol Service online (with music from Shipton church choir).

Weekend of 13 December:  An online Christingle Service for families will be available. Please let us know if you would like to order a Takeaway Christingle pack:  vicar@wychwoodbenefice.org.uk

14-20 December:   Blue Christmas Week The build up to Christmas can be full of joy and expectation, but for many it will be different in the light of the impact of Covid19. The loss of a loved one or not being able to spend Christmas with all the family can take away some of the shine of Christmas. The churches in the Benefice will be open during daylight hours for quiet and reflection and private prayer.

20 December:   Blue Christmas Service 9.30am in Milton Church
This will be a quiet service, for anyone who would like space and for anyone for whom this might be a difficult time of year.
20 December:   Pre-recorded lessons and carol service online (with music from Shipton church choir).

Christmas Eve:   Midnight United Benefice Communion 11pm in Shipton Church.

Christmas Day:   Christmas Communion 9.30am in Milton, 11am in Shipton, 11am in Fifield.
