It has been a bit of a whirlwind here at MPC of late. Jenny Miller, our Clerk, confided in me some time back that she was looking to increase her hours of employment now that her children are all at school. At the start of October this became a reality. After advertising widely, we were able to interview five very good candidates, offering the post to Mrs Lara Jacques who lives in our villages.
Jenny is moving on to an area she has studied before taking up teaching, that of law, and she has secured a job with a local firm of solicitors. Jenny told me and I quote – “I am really grateful for the opportunity it has given me to meet a lovely group of committed councillors and has given me a great appreciation for what goes on behind the scenes in the village.” We wish her all the best and thank her for her six years of service to our PC.
The rest of the time has been much more mundane! Thames Water are still having problems with their sewers, with the line from Idbury and Fifield erupting again in the field behind the Fox’s farm. It appears that the cost of replacing the sewer is greater than the cost of continual clear ups and potential fines!
Because of Covid we will not be able to hold our usual ‘Carols Round the Tree’ this Christmas but look out for news of a virtual carol concert that is being planned.
