April – May 2018

I had not realised before just how significant the year 2018 would turn out to be for our villages. Perhaps of greatest note is the centenary of the Women’s Institute here in the Wychwoods; it continues to thrive in both Milton and Shipton, so we have devoted a two page article to this milestone as well as filling our centre pages with photos to mark the occasion.
2018 also marks the twentieth year since the opening of the New Beaconsfield Hall. As if that was not enough, the Cotswold Wardens celebrate their fiftieth year of supporting the local environment in 2018. All three anniversaries are featured highly in this issue of The Wychwood.
But that is not all. If variety really is the spice of life, then this issue is very tasty and there is truly something for everyone. Again, we include highlights of our locality – and you could contribute to this ‘On your doorstep’ section in future, there are honourable mentions of the Milton fete, the Saplings – see our back cover, there is a letter from Africa and even a focus on the humble wellie!
As if this was not enough, there are several heart-warming articles featuring the role that young people play in our communities, so read on.
