October – November 2016

It has been quite a memorable summer with the Rio Olympics. Who would have thought a seat clamp, manufactured by Wychwood Machining based in Groves’ yard in Milton, was so vital in the success of the Team GB cyclists? Read all about that in this edition.
Burford School reports outstanding exam results and we particularly congratulate local youngsters on their successes and wish them well with their future dreams and hopes. Wychwood School says farewell to one group of pupils as they move on to senior schools and prepare to welcome a new intake.
As we look back to the successes of the summer there is plenty to look forward to as the autumn months set in. Check all that there is on offer in our Forthcoming Events section. There is never a dull moment with concerts, talks, reading groups, knitting groups, WI, WLHS meetings and so much more. Look out for the delights of the Firework Display at Shipton Cricket Club and Christmas Fairs at Shipton WI, Milton Church and The Paddocks.
Look out for exciting news in our next issue of the WLHS’ latest project on the Ascott Martyrs.
