Autumn news from Burford School

Once again the term has flown by; new students have settled in, trips have taken place to Spain and Germany, our international boarders were delighted to be invited to Wychwood Primary School for European Week of Languages and it was lovely to meet so many students from the Wychwood villages at our Open Day in September.

We were delighted to see our students achieve another excellent set of GCSE and A-level results in the summer. At A-level students gained places at key Russell Group institutions and a number achieved offers of apprenticeships with such prestigious businesses as Deloitte and Bayer UK. Many of them came back to join us for Charter Day and it was wonderful to hear how they have settled in. Amongst our prize winners were Theo Genç, Jessica Lewis and Freya Wills from Ascott, Shipton and Milton. At GCSE the Year 11 students exceeded all headline targets putting us, once again, in the top 20% of all schools nationally.

Former students get together
At the end of September we enjoyed our third Old Burfordians’ Reunion. Numbers are continuing to grow and we are now thinking ahead to the celebrations of the 450th anniversary of the school in 2021. Do sign up to keep in touch if you are a former student. We would like to get as many former students as possible involved across all year groups and are keen to gather thoughts and ideas for celebrating this momentous anniversary.
