The ambitious project to produce a definitive history of the County of Oxfordshire within the Victoria County History series moves on with the publication of Volume XIX covering the area of the Wychwood Forest.
The official launch took place at Bruern Abbey recently in the presence of 80 supporters including Lord Lieutenant Tim Stevenson and hosts for the evening, Lord Glendonbrook and Martin Ritchie.
The new volume focuses on the Wychwood Forest and around a dozen surrounding centres including all the Wychwood villages. It contains 409 pages with more than 100 maps and illustrations. The published price is £95 but until 31 December it can be obtained at a 25% discount from Boydell and Brewer ordering directly from their website https://boydellandbrewer.com/a-history-of-the-county-of-oxford-hb-24919.htmla entering code BB768 at the checkout.
The VCH has now started research for Volume XXI covering Chipping Norton and Hook Norton.
