Our library in action

The Space Chase!
Big congratulations to all the children who finished the Summer Reading Challenge, ‘The Space Chase’, and proudly received their medals and certificates. All children from four to eleven were encouraged to take part in the challenge which involved reading six books over the summer. There was a mystery to solve involving missing library books and extra-terrestrials, with stickers, a bookmark and a game to collect along the way. Our Space Craft sessions and Digital Making sessions proved popular- a big thank you to Anne Shirley and Sue Mellerick for their help in making this such a success. Thanks also to Beatrice Sparrow, who proved to be a hard-working and enthusiastic Summer Reading Challenge Volunteer. We’re now on a countdown to next year!!! Keep reading, Space Cadets!

Shipton Fete
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help at the Wychwood Library Chill Out Tent on Monday 26th August. We had a swelteringly good day helping children to create space-themed crafts, including aliens in a matchbox, alien head-dresses and clay aliens. Some hot and bothered babies and toddlers enjoyed our selection of toys and books. We had several willing young helpers to decorate our cardboard space rocket to zoom into space and beyond!!! Our ‘Space Dip’ proved popular, with many lucky fives and unders coming home with exciting new picture books. We plan to provide a similar range of free craft activities, games and toys next year at the Shipton Fete. We all loved being part of the community and sharing everything that Wychwood Library has to offer. I, for one, am hoping for more of a parent/adult chill out area next year, although of course we can’t be guaranteed such good weather.

Events in the library
We have a wonderful selection of events at Wychwood Library. A big thank you to all those who give up their time to run these groups. Please contact the library for further information. Next term, we will be adding Code Club to our list so keep a look out in the library for further details.

We would be very grateful to accept any Lego you can spare for our popular Lego Club. Any donations, great or small, would be greatly appreciated.
