A message from our MP, Robert Courts

One issue that is frequently raised with me is law and order, and policing. Everybody, all across the country, wants to feel secure and safe in their homes and communities and as they go about their business. We are lucky here to have an excellent police force in Thames Valley Police, but the Government recognizes that more needs to be done.

I am therefore absolutely delighted about the recruitment drive for 20,000 more police officers across the country. Starting in September, there will be a national campaign to recruit these officers over the next three years. These officers will be particularly welcome in rural communities like ours.

As well as more police, our officers need to be better supported. I have been campaigning with a group of Conservative MPs for the Government to adopt a Police Covenant, which commits the Government to supporting our serving and retired police officers when it comes to mental and physical health.

Law and order is one of my key priorities as your MP, and I hope you would agree these are important, positive steps. I look forward to discussing them in detail with Thames Valley Police at the next of our regular catch up meetings.
