More coffee anyone

angelafrancisdeliSurely there has to be a limit to how much coffee can be drunk in Milton? Perhaps not. While there are at least three existing opportunities to drink coffee together in Milton, a new one has started up, but first, here are three well established places of provision:

  • The Paddocks has a large dining room where coffee plus other food and drink are served daily;
  • Coffee is served in the library every Wednesday morning – cosy and convivial;
  • Every Friday morning, coffee and very tasty homemade cakes are available in the Baptist church hall.

But that is just the beginning. In July, Dashwoods opened opposite the Green. This is the brainchild of mother and daughter team, Angela and Eleanor Francis. Converting the premises from an estate agent’s office into a café was, to say the least, a challenge, but thanks to a team of local workmen, the dream venture opened as an airy and welcoming venue with lovely views of the Green. This is not solely a coffee shop; as Angela states:

“We sell paintings and other craft work by local artists and offer a swap-a-book scheme too. My daughter and I want our coffee shop to become a meeting place for all ages of local people who can enjoy what we have to offer and catch up with friends; plus, those who work away from the office there is free Wi-Fi over a hot drink.”

As well as the drinks, there are homemade cakes, biscuits and Paninis. Dashwoods is open daily, including 10 a.m. until noon on Sunday.

Psst! For any Milton resident brave enough to risk the border crossing, coffee is also served in Shipton’s New Beaconsfield Hall every Monday morning!
