Milton under Wychwood Scarecrow Trail

BettyFollowing the success of the scarecrow competition at the MUWAGA Produce Show last year, ideas of holding a larger event for scarecrows were hatched by a small group of friends over a cup of coffee.

From excitable chatter a Scarecrow Trail around Milton under Wychwood has been carefully planned and organised for Saturday 8th June 2019. The theme of the event is to be TV and film characters. Over the same weekend a Flower Festival on the same theme, will be held at St Simon and St Jude’s Church. All funds raised will go to the Wychwood Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides.

A Scarecrow Trail is a great Community event for all to enjoy, and we would like you to get involved, either as a Scarecrow maker or by coming along to follow the Trail. Our hope is that residents and businesses of Milton under Wychwood will make and display a scarecrow at the boundary of their property. For those of you outside the boundaries of Milton under Wychwood you will have the opportunity to display your scarecrow either on Milton village green or on the route up to St Simon and St Jude’s Church. There will be a small registration fee to enter your scarecrow.

During the day of the Trail we will be selling trail maps, showing where all the scarecrows are, and a competition form for you to name the TV or film character represented by each scarecrow as well as the scarecrow that you like the best. There are fabulous family prizes to be won for the people’s choice of best scarecrow and for the person who recognises the most TV and film characters on display.

Refreshments will be available in Milton Village Hall where you will also find local handmade scarecrow related crafts on sale and children’s activities.

Watch out for our posters which will give you further details about entry and where to obtain your registration form, as well as revealing all the exciting prizes to be won. In the meantime start thinking and planning your scarecrow but remember shhh… don’t tell anyone which film or TV character you are going to make!
