Children’s hobbies: judo

Elodie2My name is Elodie Lock and I am 10 years old and attend Wychwood Primary School. I started doing Judo when I was 5 years old as an after-school club and really enjoy it. Judo is a dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs. I love learning new judo techniques and have made some really good friends of various ages, both girls and boys and would encourage anyone to give Judo a try. It is great fun and has really improved my confidence and keeps you strong and fit too!

I go training in Charlbury and now Brize Norton every week in term time and have been representing Oxfordshire for the last few years as part of the Oxfordshire Judo Squad team. I have attended quite a few national competitions and have managed to get on the podium each time. This September I competed in my first International competitions and got a bronze medal which I was very pleased with. My most recent competition was a local sensei Abbe where I competed at a category above my weight and managed to win all my fights and secure a gold medal. I am hoping if I keep trying my best and training hard one day I will be able to represent England and win a gold some day!
