Christmas box biscuits

christmasbiscuits100g butter
225g plain flour
100g caster sugar
Boiled sweets halved
2 egg yolks

Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks, add the flour and mix to a firm dough. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 3mm thick. Using Christmas cutters, e.g. stars, trees to cut out biscuits. Remove centres with a smaller cutter or a sharp knife leaving a 6mm border. Make holes in the top for ribbon.

Place on lightly greased baking trays. Place half a boiled sweet in the centre of each. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for seven to eight minutes or until golden.

Remove from oven, cool and thread with ribbons. Hang on Christmas tree.
