Milton parish news

The last PC meeting prior to the summer recess saw a high turnout, due to the decision made by the Planning Inspector in relation to the development in the field behind The Sands. The PC took the decision to instruct a barrister to examine the Inspector’s decision as to whether a Judicial Review should be sought. However, it was considered that there were insufficient grounds to do so, which we understand came as a disappointment to many in the village.
Now autumn is upon us, the PC looks forward to seeing some of the recent benefactors of its donations bear fruit:

  • 1st Wychwood Scouts
  • The new youth drama group, called Wychwood Bods
  • The Village Hall, following the newly installed kitchen

More projects are in the pipeline including:

  • The church wall restoration is at the detailed drawing stage in order for the Diocese to make their final decision
  • The woodland walk stretching along Littlestock Brook from the Community Orchard is taking shape, with the aim of stabilising the banks of the brook and so reducing the likelihood of flooding
  • The application to register a public right of way in the field behind The Sands is underway.

We can bring you news hot off the press, that the new street names for the development south of the High Street have been confirmed by the developers and the District Council as Wellington Way, Lime Grove, Chestnut Lane and Willow Close. Finally, as we look ahead to budgeting for 2019, the PC welcomes ideas from the community for projects to undertake which will benefit the village and its residents. Please do email suggestions to
