A builder of repute

robinperryawvThose white vans with a red cross are a familiar sight in the Wychwoods, but who is Robin Perry and what is his background? Here he takes up the story.

I was born and bought up in Chipping Norton; my wife Karen (nee Hunt) was raised in Milton under Wychwood. We married in St Simon & St Jude and have two grown up children, Sarah who lives in Fairford, and our son Thomas who works for us.

In 2006 I was working for Hunt & Townsend (Arthur Hunt being my father-in-law), when Arthur suffered a heart attack, and both Alan Townsend and Arthur decided to retire. I then had the momentous decision of whether to carry on with the business. After much discussion and writing pros and cons down, Karen and I decided to take the plunge and Robin J Perry General Building and Maintenance was born in September 2006.

We are proud to offer a friendly local service to past customers and new. We employed David, Phillip and Allan who were working for Hunt & Townsend also taking on Richard, Jon, Thomas and laterally Robert as an apprentice.

I aim to provide a quick response to all enquiries with my trustworthy and experienced workforce. We are very conscious of the responsibility that comes with working in people’s homes and treating them and their property with respect.

We are all, very much all-rounders at most projects. David concentrates more on plumbing, Phillip on stonework, Jon and Robert on roofing and stonework, Richard and Thomas on all aspects of decoration/tiling works. Along the way we use local reputable sub- contract carpenters, electricians and plasterers. Wherever possible, we use local suppliers and traders to support our work.

We have carried out works for local churches, The Mid Counties Co-operative Society in their stores and other properties, and have many regular customers, a lot of our work coming from recommendations, doing small extensions, bathroom and kitchen refurbishments.

Those recommendations are very encouraging; one customer wrote as follows:
“We have used Robin Perry and his team for some major alterations and some minor ones. We can’t praise them enough. Very high quality work in all trades. Careful, thoughtful and tidy. And very reasonable prices. We wouldn’t now go to anybody else.”

No job is too small, from cleaning gutters to laying a new patio, from tiling to fitting a brand new kitchen, refurbishment, replacement – you name it, we do it. We travel the length and breadth of the Cotswolds even venturing as far as the big city. We are more than happy to offer advice and give help pointing people in the right direction for planning.

Robin J Perry Ltd sponsor Oxford City Stars ice hockey team and Rob Hall of Oxford United. We are members of the Federation of Master Builders.
