Saying thank you to Malcolm

malcolmspresentationAfter 24 years Malcolm Cochrane MBE, who initiated the fund-raising, design and building of New Beaconsfield Hall, has stepped down from the committee. Malcolm has been active in Shipton-under-Wychwood for over 33 years and was involved in 14 disparate groups including the Parish Council, the Parochial Church Council, the Playing Fields Association and the popular Monday Coffee Morning, which was his idea. He has brought much to the village and has been a pillar of the community in the true sense of the word. Malcolm was also the driving force behind the Shipton playground, and we can all agree it has been a huge success.
In October we held a celebration of Malcolm’s work at the Village Hall with friends and colleagues who have been linked in some way to the building over the years. We presented him with a hamper of goodies to enjoy at his leisure, a photobook showing the many and varied uses of the hall and a voucher for theatre tickets.

We wish Malcolm all the best as he steps down from The New Beaconsfield Hall leaving behind him a legacy that has given so much to so many. His dedication and hard work for both the young and the elderly and, more widely, for Oxfordshire will never be forgotten.
