Shipton Parish Council news

First of all, may I extend a big welcome to our new Councillor, Rebecca Ward who moved to the village in the summer of 2016. She works at Lady Margaret Hall, one of the University of Oxford colleges, overseeing alumni events and communications, and outside of work has an interest in wildlife conservation.

Now that the elves and dwarves are in the supermarkets, it is not too early to look ahead. If you are planning to shop in the new Westgate Centre or in London why not use the Saturday rail service from Shipton – cheaper than parking in Oxford. Departures are 7.59, 10.03 and 14.00 returning at 14.49, 17.48, and 21.12. Group discounts are available if you need support to spend money!

Not that we are looking for customers, but the new defibrillator for Fiddler’s Hill has arrived and awaits installation. We will arrange a training session for those interested in learning how to use it once it has been installed.
By the time this is published you should see a much-repaired wall by the Village Green and a new tree to replace the dying one on the Green, as well as two new trees outside the New Beaconsfield Hall.
