Have you taken an opportunity to visit the new Parish Council website
www.miltonunderwychwood-pc.gov.uk? The Council has recently agreed to purchase the domain name of the present village website to preserve the operation of its general information pages. At its June meeting, the PC approved a £200 donation to British Red Cross Fire Relief to residents of the Grenfell Tower disaster. Our Speedwatch team continues monitoring traffic behaviour in our village under the guidance of TV Police, and our Milton Volunteers turned out in force to assist the set-up and putting away of the Milton Fete on 1st July. The review from our newly contracted Internal Auditor for 2016-17 confirmed we had met all the statutory guidelines, provided the opportunity to further improve our systems and revealed no major variances. Our medium-term budgeting has taken into account the need to renovate the sagging roadside wall of the parish churchyard during the next few years and a contract for upgrading the path from the Church entrance to the Benefice Centre has been let; we will report more on these projects later. A small team of councillors is examining how to improve seating on the Green for the adults accompanying children to the play areas, and the possibility of incorporating a youth shelter, in a suitable location, may also be considered.
A meeting of the consultant to MacTaggart & Mickel Homes (England) Ltd is to be scheduled with village residents to consider the firm’s pre-application plan for development of the 62 homes south of the High Street and for use of associated land included within the transfer. Finally we still have one councillor vacancy and for this opportunity and any other PC information please contact miltonparishclerk@gmail.com.
