Shipton Parish Council news

At its February meeting, The Uplands Planning Committee gave outline planning permission for 44 houses near the school. This was not unexpected as the site has been earmarked for development for many years. We have however, negotiated a substantial sum of compensation to help finance village activities which will require expansion following the build of the development. This will cover a bus subsidy, a grant to the library, the school games’ area and the village hall. The next step is to influence the composition of the development in favour of affordable homes.
We are trying to persuade GWR to make an additional stop at Shipton station. We need to demonstrate that there is sufficient interest to set up a trial. If you would use such a service, stopping in Shipton at around 10 a.m., please e-mail Bartha Pitman on pitman.home@gmail.com.
Our Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Thursday 20th April at the New Beaconsfield Hall at 7.30 p.m. We urge everyone to come, to enable us to hear your concerns and suggestions. We are also keen to have your help in reporting suspicious behaviour including drug related activities. If you have concerns do please ring 101.

Farewell
Finally we say farewell to Neil Jagger, our Chairman who is moving to France. He has given many years of devoted service and we wish him and Sue all the very best.
